Digital Additive began our official internship during the summer of 2020. And since then, we’ve had three amazing cohorts go through the program. Every group has brought something new to the table, and they’ve all delivered fantastic work to us and to our clients. About two years have passed since our first internship cohort, and with summer quickly approaching, we wanted to see what the interns have been up to since leaving Digital Additive. Here are some of the interns and their updates!
First up is Andrew Singer, an intern from the summer 2020 cohort
What are you doing now professionally?
I am working as a Producer at the Martin Agency in Richmond, VA.
How did the DA internship help prepare you for the professional world?
DA introduced me to the world of marketing and advertising and a professional approach to creative work. It taught me fundamentals of client work and driving impactful messaging.
Tell us about any new skills, techniques, and knowledge you gained from the internship.
I gained tangible marketing skills such as A/B testing, communication skills, and how to approach data-driven research to generate useful insights that people can digest.
What would you tell students who are looking for an internship, what to look for?
I would encourage them to look for positions that speak to who they are as a person and to work on the brands they believe in.
Next we have Peyton Jordan, an intern from the spring 2021 cohort
What are you doing now professionally?
I graduated from the University of Georgia in December 2021 and now work full time at a media agency in Search Engine Optimization.
Tell us about any new skills, techniques, and knowledge you gained from the internship.
One very specific technique that I use to this day is a status sheet. I could not have completed my last semester of college (18 hour workload!) without the help of my status sheet. Now, I use one every single day at work. It helps me to see where my attention should be, and there’s nothing like seeing green everywhere (indicating completed tasks)!
How did this internship match your expectations?
My internship at DA was everything I could have expected and more. Agency life can seem daunting, but DA introduced me to it in the best possible way. I am very thankful for my time at DA and the doors that have been opened for me due to the experience I gained here.
Next we have Anna Hubert who was in the summer 2021 cohort
What are you doing now professionally?
I am now a rising senior at Tulane University, so I will graduate next spring. I am double majoring in marketing and management. I am currently interning this semester at a technology company called Probax as a sales and marketing intern.
How did the DA internship help prepare you for the professional world?
I am very grateful for my time at Digital Additive since it has prepared me well both in and out of the classroom. I recently found myself in a group project where we had to develop customer personas; I was the only person in my group who had done one before thanks to my time at DA.
Tell us about any new skills, techniques, and knowledge you gained from the internship.
I was able to complete trainings in Salesforce Marketing Cloud and Amazon QuickSight. Having knowledge of these platforms has given me a leg up when applying to summer internships and will aid in my job search process next year.
How did this internship match your expectations?
My internship at DA exceeded my expectations in the best way. From day one, everyone was so welcoming and went out of their way to teach me how the agency functions. I grew so much over the summer, both professionally and personally, thanks to the wonderful people at DA.
Lastly we have Smriti Nair from the 2021 spring cohort
What are you doing now professionally?
I am in my last semester at Georgia State University and will be graduating in May with my Marketing degree. I am currently working part-time at Amplify, an education company, and have accepted a full-time position upon graduation with the Marketing department, and specifically the Customer Engagement team, as a Customer Engagement coordinator.
Tell us about any new skills, techniques, and knowledge you gained from the internship.
I learned many skills and techniques at DA, which includes management platforms such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud. I also learned how to send emails from this platform, as well as performing QA checks before launch. I was able to meet and network with almost everyone at DA, and they’re all great!
How did this internship match your expectations?
This internship exceeded my expectations because I was expecting to work with just one team, but Peyton and I were able to work with each team within the company, which was so helpful to understand business management and to launch our projects during the time we were interning at DA.
What would you tell students who are looking for an internship, what to look for?
I would tell students to look for something that interests them. Experience is so important, but you need to be able to enjoy what you are doing. Internships are also a great way to solidify what it is you want your future career to be.
We’ve just selected our interns for the summer 2022 cohort, but if you’re a student, keep an eye out in winter of 2023 for applications to open again for the summer 2023 program! Not a student? We also have a list of current open positions you can find here. We take pride in the growth opportunities DA provides and are always adding to our amazing team.
